Reading Instruction That Actually Works.
Meet The Expert
Christina "Miss CJ" Clarke-Johnson M.A. , ALT
Hi, I’m Christina, founder of Charm & Bloom Learning Co. and the instructor behind every pod. I work with K–3rd grade students who learn differently and need strong, foundational reading support based on what actually works.
Most families who come to me already know their child is bright and capable, but reading just isn't clicking. School isn't meeting their needs, and home support often leads to frustration, guilt, or burnout. You want to help your child, but you also need a professional who knows what they’re doing and can take the lead.
That’s where I come in.
I use a multisensory, Orton-Gillingham-based approach that helps children engage their brains in the way they learn best. My sessions include visual, auditory, and tactile strategies, with plenty of repetition and practice built in. This kind of teaching is especially powerful for children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences. It's not just tutoring. It's structured, therapeutic instruction that's designed to close real skill gaps.
My pods are small, just four students at a time, and fully online so families don’t have to rearrange their lives to get the support their child needs. Everything is personalized and paced to your child, not the curriculum.
This work matters to me because I was that student once—bright but misunderstood. I received a learning difference diagnosis later in life, and it shaped how I teach. I bring that experience into every session, along with years of training, structure, and care.
If you're looking for reading support that’s both expert and affirming, you’re in the right place.

Why learning Pods?
What Is a Learning Pod, and Is It Right for Your Child?
If you're here, you're probably seeing signs that your child needs more support with reading. Maybe they're guessing at words, avoiding books, or struggling to keep up in class. You've tried helping at home, but it's exhausting—and you’re not sure what to do next.
A learning pod at Charm & Bloom is a small group, skill-based program designed to close those early literacy gaps using proven methods that work for children who learn differently.
Here’s what sets it apart from traditional tutoring:
Small, skill-based groups
Each pod includes no more than four students, and children are grouped by reading level, not just age or grade. This keeps instruction focused, responsive, and effective.
Multi-sensory instruction based on the science of reading. We use an Orton-Gillingham-based approach, which means your child will learn through movement, visuals, sound, and touch. This is essential for kids with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences. They often need more than just verbal explanations or worksheets to retain and apply new skills.
Flexible and consistent format
Pods meet three times a week over Zoom. This schedule gives your child the repetition and structure they need to grow, without disrupting your family’s routine. No commuting, no drop-offs, and no guessing if the instructor is qualified.
Led by a trained specialist, not a general tutor
I'm Christina, a certified academic language therapist in training. I’ve spent over a decade helping students who don’t thrive in traditional classrooms. I know how to teach reading in a way that sticks, and I bring that precision and care into every pod.
For many families, pods offer the best of both worlds. Your child gets targeted, consistent support. You get peace of mind knowing you’ve invested in a real solution—not a temporary patch.
If you're still unsure, you can try the First Flight Pod. It’s a one-week, no-commitment trial that gives you a chance to experience the pod model before enrolling in the full 12-week program.
